About Bulou J. Gavidi

Stay updated with my campaign...

Bula vinaka everyone! Greetings from my home island of Moala. I hail from Naroi village in Moala, with maternal ties to Nukuni village in Ono-i-Lau. I am proud of my Lauan heritage and also honor my mother's maternal connections to Kadavu, where I am named. It is an honor to serve, and I invite you to connect with my campaign through my blogs and social media platforms. My mission is to empower landowners, drive local manufacturing, invest in the tech industry, and build a stronger Fiji.

Bulou J. Gavidi  was born and raised in Suva, Fiji, and has built a career at the intersection of technology, leadership, and community development. A standout student from an early age, she was named Dux of Stella Maris Primary School before continuing her education at St. Joseph’s Secondary School and International School Suva. A pivotal moment in her early learning journey was her time at St. Jude’s Holder in Canberra, Australia, while her father pursued studies at the Joint Services Staff College in 1995.

Her academic pursuits took her across the globe. Following a 2 year stint at the University of Otago in New Zealand, she left to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science through an ICCR Scholarship from the Indian Government at Fergusson College in Pune, India. Upon returning to Fiji, she furthered her expertise with a Master’s in Computing and Information Systems from USP (2018) and a Master’s in Information Technology from the University of Fiji (2020).

Career and Leadership

Her professional journey began at the University of the South Pacific as a Web and Animations Assistant before joining the Ministry of Education as an Assistant Programmer in 2015. She quickly rose through the ranks, becoming an Education Officer at the Curriculum Development Unit, where she played a key role in drafting ministerial statements and cabinet submissions. Alongside her government role, she was a part-time lecturer at Fulton College and a curriculum and assessment consultant for the Pacific Community’s EQAP program (2017-2022).

By 2021, due to the lack of opportunity to progress in the Ministry, she transitioned out of the public sector to explore new opportunities and found her own IT consultancy. Her leadership potential was further recognized in 2022 when she was elected to the Yatu Lau Company Board, making history as its youngest board director. She later resigned to fully commit to her political career, contesting the 2022 General Election under the People’s Alliance.

Community Impact and Global Recognition

With over 25 years of volunteer work, her contributions span multiple sectors. She began volunteering as a high school student at organizations such as Hilton Special School, CWM Hospital, and the Citizens' Constitutional Forum. Over the years, her service extended to Gospel School for the Deaf, Fiji Servicemen Aftercare Fund, Pune Blind Students Association (India), St John’s Ambulance Fiji, Soqosoqo Vakamarama Lau, and the Returned Soldiers and Ex-Servicemen Association.

In 2024, she established the Global Partnerships for Moala Trust, a charitable trust dedicated to sustainable economic development in Moala. Her leadership has been recognized regionally and internationally—she is a Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) alumna, having participated in the Professional Fellows Program (2023) at the East-West Center in Hawaii. She also secured a $10,000 YPL Small Grant (2024) from the US Dept of State to support capacity-building initiatives in Moala. Currently, she is part of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs Program (2025), facilitated by Guam Community College.

Current Role

She continues to drive change in Fiji’s digital landscape as a member of the Government’s Information Technology and Communication Services Steering Committee. With a deep commitment to innovation, leadership, and community empowerment, she remains focused on building a stronger, more self-sufficient Fiji through technology, entrepreneurship, and policy reform.
